Bring Jolly’s rich heritage to life
Jolly’s is a much-loved retail landmark on Milsom Street in Bath. It has traded continuously from these prestige premises since 1831 and is amongst the oldest department stores in the world.
Scheduled to undergo a refit, the business was mindful of preserving its unique heritage and invited me to define and deliver a project to share the store’s past with visitors.
What I did:
Reviewed and organized the extensive archive
Identified the 10 most compelling stories to tell
Developed them into a Heritage Trail (complete with ‘blue plaques’ and a map)
Engaged the Store Team with these stories and how they could share them
Designed and installed a Jolly’s library and gallery
Made presentations at Bath in Fashion & Costume Society events
Appeared on local television to promote Jolly’s at relaunch
